Iodine - Thyrodine Trial
The Thyrodine Trial is a clinical outcome study to look at the relationship between iodine and thyroid function. It is a 3 month study.
Entry Criteria
- Adult, non-pregnant, not taking iodine or thyroid supplementation
- Hypothyroid Symptoms (12 or greater on symptom survey)
- Slow reflexes (more than 137 msecs Fire-Prefire interval)
- Low Basal Body Temperatures (lower than 97.5 degrees in the armpit before getting out of bed)
- Low Urine Iodide (less than 10 ppm)

- Resting Metabolic Rate
- Reflexes
- Urine
- saliva and serum iodide
- Urinary Halides
- TSH
- Free T3
- Free T4
- Thyroglobulin
Monthly (30 day) Interval Measurements:
- Symptoms
- Height
- Weight
- RMR
- Reflexes
- Urine Iodide
- Urinary Halides
Exit Measurements: Same as Baseline.
